BEST ADULT OR EROTIC SHORT FILM OF 2019
Winner - Piss Off (United States) | Dir. Henry Baker
Shocking. Disgusting. Unacceptable. But is it porn… or is it really… art? Piss Off is a LGBTIQ+ documentary that explores a long-practised erotic fetish from the point-of-view of a gay millennial who expresses it as performance art. Known online as Athleticpisspig, he uses video and internet to demonstrate and perform 'water sports' or 'piss-play' with other men in various ways. Followed by more than 80,000 subscribers, Athleticpisspig’s work will elicit judgements from degrading and decadent to arousing and celebratory. It’s certainly defiant and challenges the viewer to re-think the human nature behind the shadowy world of erotic fetishes. And the old question—since ancient Greece, through the Renaissance to burlesque, Manet and Mapplethorpe—is it pornography or groundbreaking art worthy of consideration and criticism? Website
Finalist - Adorn (United States) | Dir. Jennifer Lyon Bell
An experimental game. Sadie and Parker face each other naked; by the end they are mostly clothed and utterly exhausted. What’s in between is unique and completely improvised by the performers themselves. Restrained by the rules of their game, they create a love scene in reverse. With music by acclaimed folk-pop songwriter Zoe Boekbinder. Website | Twitter
Finalist - Alla Prima (United States) | Dir. Angie Rowntree
The colours of desire are awakened with a simple touch. Watch as the colours of a young couple come to life with every sensual touch. Every kiss. Every sigh of satisfaction. With no idea of what they’re creating, the two begin to make love on a blank canvas and slowly immerse themselves into the creation of something elevated by their pleasure in one another. Blues, golds, flesh on flesh; Alla Prima shows us the power of art and sexual fantasy as they come together in this mesmerising display of modern art. In the end, it’s given to the hands of the public eye to witness and admire as the two artists watch with pride. Website.
